Board of Directors

Sten Verland, PhD

Chairman

Sten Verland is President & CEO of BioLink Capital and is Venture Partner of Sunstone Capital A/S with primary investment focus on drug development, vaccines and medical technology. In addition to his investment responsibilities, Dr. Verland has 20 years of experience as international executive, entrepreneur and private investor in biotech companies as well as pre-clinical and clinical CROs.

Dr. Verland has held positions as Head of R&D in Scanpharm A/S and as President and Chief Executive Officer in Møllegaard Breeding & Research Centre A/S. In 1998, Dr. Verland participated in the foundation of the company Synarc, Inc., and served for 4 years as its Vice President, General Manager Europe. In 2003, he left Synarc to focus on his other investments and start-ups including Nordic Vaccine A/S and StemCare A/S. In the following two years he co-founded further 3 companies and served on 16 boards of start-up companies in the Nordic region. Other activities included responsibilities within the Danish Business Angel Network, Danish Venture Capital Association (DVCA) and Innovationsrådet.

Dr. Verland holds a Master of Science in Biology and Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Immunology both from University of Copenhagen. After completing his doctorate, he held a number of academic positions in the field of biomedical research including a position as Assistant Professor in Immunology at University of Copenhagen. He has published 15 international peer-reviewed scientific publications.

Bo Jesper Hansen, MD PhD

Bo Jesper Hansen is Chairman of the Board of Swedish Orphan Biovitrum. Previously he held various positions in Swedish Orphan International AB from 1993 and was President & CEO of Swedish Orphan International Group of Companies from 1998 until the merger with Biovitrum in 2009. Prior to joining Swedish Orphan International AB, Dr. Hansen worked as a medical advisor for several of the largest Pharmaceutical Companies including Synthélabo, Pfizer, Pharmacia and Yamanouchi and he is the founder of Scandinavian Medical Research.

Dr. Hansen is also Chairman of the Board of Topotarget and a Board member of CMC and MipSalus.

Dr. Hansen has an MD and a PhD from the University of Copenhagen. He is the author of more than 40 publications in international peer-review scientific journals and is an experienced presenter at international scientific congresses.

Per Valstorp, MSc

Per Valstorp is Senior Vice-President for world-wide Product Supply at Novo Nordisk.

Prior to joining Novo Nordisk, Mr. Valstorp was Associate Professor in Mathematical Statistics & Operational Research at the Technical University of Denmark and later Management Consultant at KPMG-C. Jespersen. Mr. Valstorp has been with Novo Nordisk since 1987 and previous to his appointment as Senior Vice-President, he has held a number of senior positions within the company as Vice-President for IT, President of the Medical Systems Division and Corporate Vice-President for Health Care Quality and Regulatory Affairs. Mr. Valstorp is a member of the board of DBI Holding.

Mr. Valstorp has a Master of Science Degree from the Technical University of Denmark.
