Thomas Tscherning, MD

Chairman

Thomas Tscherning joined the BankInvest Group in 1997 as part of the healthcare and biotechnology teams. His focus is on developing the co-operative relationship between investor and entrepreneur.

As a former Clinical Investigator on several studies, Dr. Tscherning has hands-on experience running clinical trials and testing new innovative drugs.

Dr. Tscherning holds a medical master's degree from the University of Copenhagen, receiving a Gold Medal Award for his thesis on neuroimmunology. He is also a post-graduate from the Karolinska Institute, a licensed practitioner, has published more than 20 scientific articles and a book about raising venture capital.

Bo Jesper Hansen, MD PhD

Bo Jesper Hansen is President & CEO of Swedish Orphan International Group of Companies consisting of the subsidiaries in Sweden, Denmark, Finland Norway, the Baltic States, the UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy and Japan.

Prior to joining Swedish Orphan International AB, Dr. Hansen worked as a medical advisor for several of the largest Pharmaceutical Companies. He has been with Swedish Orphan International AB since 1993 and previous to his appointment as CEO, he has held several positions within the company. During this period he has also co-founded the Shared Clinic “The Prostate Clinic” in Denmark. Dr. Hansen's experience includes international marketing and contract negotiations with extensive knowledge within regulatory, pharmacovigilance, medical marketing and business development and he has close collaborations in the Orphan Drugarea. Today, Dr. Hansen is a member of the board in the Swedish Orphan International Group and in Vivolution A/S.

Dr. Hansen has an MD and a PhD from the University of Copenhagen. He is the author of more than 40 publications in international peer-review scientific journals and is an experienced presenter at international scientific congresses.

Per Valstorp, MSc

Per Valstorp is Senior Vice-President for world-wide Product Supply at Novo Nordisk.

Prior to joining Novo Nordisk, Mr. Valstorp was Associate Professor in Mathematical Statistics & Operational Research at the Technical University of Denmark and later Management Consultant at KPMG-C. Jespersen. Mr. Valstorp has been with Novo Nordisk since 1987 and previous to his appointment as Senior Vice-President, he has held a number of senior positions within the company as Vice-President for IT, President of the Medical Systems Division and Corporate Vice-President for Health Care Quality and Regulatory Affairs. Mr. Valstorp is a member of the board of DBI Holding.

Mr. Valstorp has a Master of Science Degree from the Technical University of Denmark.

Sten Verland, PhD

Sten Verland is President & CEO of BioLink Capital and is Venture Partner of Sunstone Capital A/S with primary investment focus on drug development, vaccines and medical technology. In addition to his investment responsibilities, Dr. Verland has 20 years of experience as international executive, entrepreneur and private investor in biotech companies as well as pre-clinical and clinical CROs.

Dr. Verland has held positions as Head of R&D in Scanpharm A/S and as President and Chief Executive Officer in Møllegaard Breeding & Research Centre A/S. In 1998, Dr. Verland participated in the foundation of the company Synarc, Inc., and served for 4 years as its Vice President, General Manager Europe. In 2003, he left Synarc to focus on his other investments and start-ups including Nordic Vaccine A/S and StemCare A/S. In the following two years he co-founded further 3 companies and served on 16 boards of start-up companies in the Nordic region. Other activities included responsibilities within the Danish Business Angel Network, Danish Venture Capital Association (DVCA) and Innovationsrådet.

Dr. Verland holds a Master of Science in Biology and Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Immunology both from University of Copenhagen. After completing his doctorate, he held a number of academic positions in the field of biomedical research including a position as Assistant Professor in Immunology at University of Copenhagen. He has published 15 international peer-reviewed scientific publications.
